Johnny Depp as the Libertine - The Earl of Rochester played by Johnny Depp
The Earl of Rochester, played by Johnny Depp in the Movie “The Libertine” was a movie hard to watch. Johnny Depp did a brilliant job playing the self destructive Earl of Rochester.
We were riveted as he brought him to life on the screen. After the movie was wrapped, Johnny became very ill and went back to his estate in France with a fever to recouperate. One has to think that the film, The Libertine, took a lot out of the actor.
This film was shot in very muddy colors. Maybe the director thought it looked authentic but I did not. There was so much color in the palaces and estates of these very rich noblemen of the time. I do agree that in the streets there was mud and filth, vermin and poverty but I think the film was shot all wrong. But that’s my opinion.
I knew a man who was just like the Earl of Rochester. He was the modern Libertine. He used people and tossed them away like used kleenex. He could not be trusted, hurt many many people and his own children hate him.
What would have happened to Earl of Rochester had there been a cure during his life?
