We can hardly wait for Sweeney Todd to come to a theater near us. All my friends are wondering how Johnny Depp will play Sweeney Todd and how he sounds singing the lyrics to this very popular play that has now been turned into a based on the hit Broadway musical which tells the a story of Sweeney Todd, who sets up a barber shop down in London which is the basis for a sinister partnership with his fellow tenant, Mrs. Lovett.
At one time Sweeney Todd who is really Benjamin Barker was a happy family man who loved his wife and child. Enter the picture the evil Judge Turpin, who with the help of a sailor, puts Benjamin Barker into jail because he covets Benjamin’s wife and daughter.
When Johnny Depp as Benjamin Barker is released from prison he takes up the name Sweeney Todd and opens up a barber shop over a shop that sells Meat Pies. He meets Mrs. Lovett, played to perfection by Helena Bonham Carter and they plot to kill and make meat pies out of their victims who have wronged Benjamin Barker.
